About
Bob Herbst Photography

est. 2001

Bob has been photographing and printing in platinum/palladium, silver gelatin, and other alternative processes since 1970 and has achieved international recognition as a master printer. In 2001, he established 'Bob Herbst Photography' as a business. Bob taught the platinum/palladium printing process for a number of years as a visiting artist at the Cleveland Institute of Art, the University of Akron, Hiram College, Cuyahoga Community College, and in private workshops. Most recently, he taught photogravure printing from polymer plates at Zygote Press in Cleveland, where he was a resident artist for several years. His work can be found in the permanent collections of the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Progressive Insurance Corporation, Washington National Cathedral, the Orkney Museum in Kirkwall, Scotland, the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland, and at Zygote Press in Cleveland. His photographic imagery explores the abstract, as well as traditional architecture, landscape, and still life subjects. His photogravure prints incorporate chine colle’, selective hand-coloring, and other techniques. Digital tools have become an integral part of Bob’s creative process, but the end product is always a handmade print.
